Reading. An Immense World, Ed Yong, plus lots of side quests; most amusingly I went and poked around for a bit more info on something earlier, came across Cooler snakes respond more strongly to infrared stimuli, but we have no idea why, and then that specific paper was cited a few pages later. (For notebook organisation reasons and also Trying To Finish Before Next Event, I am attempting One Chapter Per Day. Today I have also got most of the way through a second. Will I manage to actually finish it before bedtime? ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT. Also, the Animal Facts posts are likely to continue for the duration.)

The Autisms also continue to insist that it is Very Important that I keep reading stationery reviews, with a focus on People Talking About Their Notebook Set-Ups.

Writing. Copious, copious notes on the book. Also a tiny bit of write-up of how I'm wrangling Lost Objects.

Watching. This evening I have been trying to get my head around manatee facial anatomy (prompted, naturally, by Yong) watching videos of baby manatees.

Dead Boy Detectives S1E2.

Cooking. Today as a Shared Activity we made a batch of pineapple upside-down banana bread, to use some increasingly overripe bananas that had been intended for but not quite made it as far as smoothie! A selected ginger liqueur to go in the caramel and that definitely Works.

Eating. Managed social with some cousins yesterday??? ATE IN A PUB GARDEN. That was a Very pleasant few hours, an Entirely Adequate macaroni cheese Made By Someone Other Than Me, remarkably pleasant focaccia with roasted veg and halloumi.

Exploring. More visiting waterfowl, both with and without cousins! And we also bimbled around the Town Park with aforementioned cousins, including introducing them to the Forbidden Adventure Island, and discovering an artwork I'd not previously noticed which is apparently a memorial for people who have died as a result of the plague.

Growing. the persimmon is unhappy. :| I think my error was potting it up and then letting it spend daytimes outside on the patio, which (i) led (I think) to it getting waterlogged and (ii) has I think resulted in wind damage. It is now back inside, not getting watered, and I am crossing my fingers. :|

Observing. DUCKLINGS of which there were FOUR that WEREN'T BEING SAT ON AT ALL. Tiiiiiiiny baby moorhen. Decidedly chonky baby coot! Teenage mallards and coots misc. More nesting coots clearly on their probably-third clutch.

Good health to your persimmon!

While I liked Dead Boy Detectives right out of the gate, after episode 2 it got better.

pineapple upside-down banana bread?!

that sounds delightful. (as do the birds!)

Also, seconding good health to the persimmon (and best of luck with the things mentioned recently in another post about your own health)

Oh myyyyy, the banana bread sounds luscious. Out of curiosity, which ginger liqueur did you use? I love Domain de Canton, but I'm always open to new experiences. Especially if they're ginger flavored.
