Today I pulled up the first of my (many) tomato plants because I convinced myself it did indeed have blight. I am hoping the rest are more resistant and that I'll get some ripe tomatoes of each variety before they all succumb.

I also took Mama's pruning saw to the cherry tree and removed a mildly terrifying amount of it. The branches I removed are currently In A Heap; I need to work out what to do with them. (Best idea currently is "strip off the leaves, prop them up somewhere plausible to dry, use them as stakes next year".) I'm not convinced I've done a particularly good job of it but my goodness there is so much more space now.

Which is being helped by also actually having the motive force to Deal With my raspberry thicket! A bit at a time, at any rate -- I am now convincing myself that I do understand summer-fruiting raspberries well enough that I can remove canes that have fruited without Ruining Everything, though I might wind up needing to do something about the bit where the accumulation of several years' deadwood was, it transpires, structural...

And then this evening we went on a little bit of an adventure: the overgrown plum trees along one of the public rights of way are juuust starting to have a few fruit ready to eat; the first batch of blackberries are slowly winding down but I am mildly hopeful about the number of immature inflorescences/fruit clusters. Nevertheless we have another quarter of a kilo or thereabouts, and tomorrow I might even get around to freezing them. :)
