Today we went and spent time in a park with some of originally-A's friends and their WHOLE ENTIRE TODDLER. It was lovely.

We saw: lots of Very Important Ducks. Subtypes of Duck included: pochard, heron, great crested grebes with two adolescents, Canada geese, Egyptian geese, SEAGULLS, another heron (probably), crows, a parakeet, lots of coots and moorhens, two baby moorhens (balls! of! fluff!), miscellaneous mallards and white ducks, A Swan, a very great many pigeons, and The Sound Of A Woodpecker.

We had pizza from the café in the park, not actually dangling our feet in the water as I'd been wisting after yesterday but still excellent; some time later, we had ice cream; we wandered back and forth observing the moon and a great many dogs and an entirely new-to-me set-up of face-to-face swings.

And even while we were working on all winding up in the same place I got to lie on the grass in the shade near vast quantities of ornamental cherry, reading a book and enjoying being warm.

Goodness but it was delightful to watch a smol engaged in such collaborative and enthusiastic communication, and also to watch them experiment with Sneaky Diversions and Subterfuge. Inexplicably they still weren't allowed to fling themself bodily into the lake, which is obviously Unfair and Unjust and Oppression, and then they couldn't even walk to the moon!

As I say: lovely.

That sounds like a really good time, especially with the application of the whole toddler to the mix.
