kaberettYesterday, to my own mild astonishment, I managed to Once Again Leave The House! On my way back from the allotment on Thursday I'd spotted a bale of straw, you see, labelled "FREE TO TAKE", and promised myself that I would go back out the next day and if it was still there then I could have it.
So I got as far as the straw, with the Tramper intermittently misbehaving, and hauled it up and strapped it on, and got myself going again...
... and ground to a halt about twenty metres down the road when the Tramper, er, died.
So I messaged A to request a rescue, and tried telling him -- it being 4.30pm -- that I could perfectly well wait until hein which I am hailed on was done with work in half an hour, but he was having none of it and set off (with trailer) forthwith, which was just as well because for all that I was wearing plenty of clothes and had in fact come to rest under a tree, it started hailing.
... the first Adam knew of the bale of straw was when he arrived.
Anyway. The bale of straw was deposited at the allotment. The Tramper was deposited back in the garage, and probably needs a new battery, which I will deal with Later. And I was deposited in the house! Where I Warmed Up Properly again.
