[migraine] this week in migraines
Nov. 11th, 2021 10:54 pmIt occurred to me, this afternoon, as I was grousing about my Ongoing Situation, that I could -- at least in principle -- phone The Migraine Trust's helpline for further calibration on how assertively I should be hassling my GP etc.
I am currently six or so hours into what is very likely to be a 36-or-so-hours-maximum of respite from migraine, so that's a job for tomorrow morning.
In the meantime, I am... increasingly unconvinced by the propanolol (and for that matter the frovatriptan, which I grudgingly tried again at the suggestion of the neurologist, who thought It Might Work Better Alongside A Beta-Blocker). It continues to make no discernible difference to the migraines, and also it... is absolutely unambiguously exacerbating my Raynaud's! Please find attached a picture of my foot, taken in a room with an air temperature of 22°C. It is not a colour that my foot is supposed to be, and also capillary refill was taking, like, 10-15 seconds. I am at one third of the maximum dose of propanolol! I do not think I want to increase my dosage of this drug any further.

(I am very tired.)

Date: 2021-11-14 01:57 am (UTC)I... was very much under the impression that propranolol is specifically contraindicated for people with Raynaud's, actually, so now that you mention having Raynaud's I am... surprised that they gave it to you at all, given the risks there. 👀
