If all goes well, this time next week I'll be settling down to sleep in the no-longer-mouldering ancestral pile.

I have not stayed anywhere overnight since the 5th of March, 2020. I have been gently fretting about how to write a packing list (and especially how to write a packing list when the place I'm going isn't actually furnished yet, so I need to bring tools and cooking equipment, and also this is my first overnight trip since I started having regular migraines, and if I'm really lucky I won't have an active migraine while we're driving down--) when there appeared, on my facebook feed, a screenshot of a tweet:

ME REGULARLY: *uses the same 3 things at home*

ME PACKING FOR VACATION: I wonder if I'll need 4 French horns or 5

My eyes jumped to the tweet before scanning the rest of the context, including attribution, and I was like "I suppose Alex could have four or five French horns. I mean, they have how many wheelchairs? They probably get crumpled up ones and know how to uncrumple them."

I'll confess to having four pairs of crutches and three walking sticks, but only two wheelchairs

Packing things that would not be used and insisting they be packed was a common thing my ex did, not necessarily out of naive but a mistaken belief that she would have more energy and the weather would be cooperative. Neither of these things were true.

Definitely bring the extra socks and blankets. Sitting in front of those windows looking out while wrapped in blankets sounds peak relax.
