I say it a lot, I know, but goodness this show is magnificently done -- and: goodness but there was a lot in this episode.
Starting with: Naomi! Naomi, in response to Josh, telling an implausible bullshit story on the spot and then hustling people into not challenging her. WHERE DID REBECCA ACQUIRE THAT SKILLSET, I WONDER.
There is also FASCINATING stuff going on here in terms of the ways that Naomi tries, I think, to be supportive of Rebecca, but in ways that actually centre herself; she's so caught up in her own shit she just winds up being cruel. And the ways she tries to support-or-protect Rebecca amount to, as the friend I am watching with said, "insulate Rebecca from the Bad Things" (per the childhood flashbacks with the Dream Ghost...) in ways that obviously result in not treating Rebecca like an individual with agency who needs to learn her own life skills, whiiiiich explains a lot about her lack of resilience and general inability to cope (ignoring, you know, both her parents actually being awful). And -- just -- oh the amazing reveal of Where This Title Song Came From, Then (re the courtroom scene).
(And, also, oh that awful moment of Rebecca setting fire to a previous ex's shit, too, because she has not actually gained any significant new coping skills since being horribly exploited by-- well. I think the entire dynamics of That Relationship are brilliantly observed, okay.)
The thing I cannot get out of my head: the alternate universe where, Doylistic considerations aside, Greg is the best man. Because he's Josh's best friend! Because he is so invested in the idea of Josh being good for Rebecca! Because in spite of everything he does actually want these two people to be happy!
Notes on the Wedding That Wasn't:
And. Finally. That beautiful sting at the end, of the reprise of I'm the Villain in My Own Story. Just -- just brilliant.

Notes on the Wedding That Wasn't:
- NATHANIEL, I howled, VALENCIA IS THE TOP YOU DREAM OF-- only to be told that I had in fact joined in with the watching-as-it-was-released fandom in shipping two people who had not actually yet met (to the point that I was half-hoping that, given this was Valencia's dream wedding, she'd actually just TAKE IT OVER)
- :| Darryl :| WiJo :| (there is no way I see that turning into Darryl Was Too Serious Too Fast; WiJo Sulks About Being Left Out) (More on Darryl: I think somehow he did WORSE THAN proposing at someone else's wedding; he REALLY needs to learn to start conversations with "how do you feel about...?"/"what do you think of...?" instead of "we should"
- good GRIEF that brief moment of self-awareness from Josh ("I'm doing exactly what Father Brah--!") followed by more TERRIBLE IDEAS, including THAT'S NOT HOW VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD WORK (I am... looking forward to seeing how that plays out)
- on which topic: Jewish Rebecca getting dumped for literal Jesus, which was not made explicit but ouch
And. Finally. That beautiful sting at the end, of the reprise of I'm the Villain in My Own Story. Just -- just brilliant.
