The... good... (...) news is that the Recently-Developed Issue with my laptop failing to cope with waking from sleep isn't Just Me, and for that matter isn't just Debian, and my associating it with a kernel upgrade was Correct.

The bad news is that this means there is limited anything I can do to fix it, and also I've totally failed to track down a Debian-related bug for it, and also I very much do not have the brain to file any such bug and then Deal With People Asking Me Questions, so booting into one of the older kernel versions I've kept lying around Just In Case it... probably is, then, given how much the behaviour is annoying me.

(At the point I was aiming to be Done With Thesis by the end of Jan I was willing to put up with it and think about it Later. Now I'm... not... I decided I should have another go at investigating fixes. Unfortunately while it's now somewhat more widely reported, as far as I can tell everyone is still at ??? over the entire situation.)

I’ve been having the same problem with my desktop. I am very glad to hear it’s not just me, because I’ve had this problem before (sometime in this past unending year, I don’t remember exactly) and I could never find any information about it, but it went away with the next update.

Interestingly I have the same kernel as the reporter and do not have that problem with Ubuntu 20.04 - instead, my problem lately has been that 'suspend on lid close' has stopped working for me and just locks the screen instead.

Unfortunately this shit is like, deep kernel magic and I always just end up copying solutions from StackOverflow (my desktop had an issue where the wifi would stop working after resume, which apparently is an issue with a certain set of wifi drivers, and the fix was to add a rule that reloads the wifi kernel module after resume)

My laptop won't boot with the current microcode patches and, exactly, no way right now I can face being reciprocally helpful to those who might fix it. Again, thank goodness for being able to boot from older kernels (that had initrd with older microcode).

How annoying :( It does look like the Ubuntu person there is actively trying to track down a fix, though, so hopefully there will be one soon.

Does it wake from full hibernation? I only hibernate mine; it saves power (and the battery is old and weary, so this is an attractive option) but also often seems more reliable.

Ah. Poor fisheye, long ago, reached the stage where her battery wouldn't even last long enough to boot Linux and shut down again, and as a result I now instinctively plug all laptops in whenever possible.
