• I am entirely over the applications process for the place I'm hoping to do the level 2 cert. in counselling skills
  
  • SMS this morning: "We are open for you to attend adn complete your enrolment. You will need to bring your residency documents (passport) including any payslip or benefit letters."
    
  • no i am not going in in person. what even.
    
  • on the upside, i already know the website has a File Upload Section
    
  • okay so I log in
    
  • above the dropdown: "You can upload the following file types: Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and images (.DOC; .DOCX; .XLS; .XLSX; .PDF; .TXT; .JPG; .GIF; .BMP; .TIFF; .PPT; .RTF; .PNG; .FPX; .PCD)."
    
  • within the dropdown: "(Please note we only accept .jpg file types)"
    
  • and of course they want the proof-of-benefits to be dated within the last three months
    
  • which means I need to hassle the sodding DWP to send me a statement of entitlement
    
  • even though my awards are all good for well beyond the duration of the course
    
  • where if they'd asked me for this documentation, in, like, June or even early July I'd have been able to supply it no problem
    
  • so that's. tedious.
    
  • the most relevant qualification certificate I have is probably in fact the MA (Cantab) which is a fake degree but okay I suppose I'll scan that in tomorrow
    
  • (unless I'm feeling less grumpy by then in which case they can get the real degree certificates)

OMG every fucking time I learn about the fake MA degrees I am amused afresh, I think this is like the fourth time and it has not gotten less funny.

The really annoying thing is I think it technically outranks the MSci I actually worked for.

To make it more ridiculous, I once met someone with a Cambridge MSc who hadn't even gone to Cambridge!

(They'd done some teaching in the vet school, so they gave them an MSc just for giggles)

The adult ed centre i used to go to (which sadly closed down recently) used to accept bank statements showing recent benefit payments as proof of benefit rather than having to wring a bit if paper out of the DWP.
(It's partly to do with funding rules and what they really care about is being on able to proof you're on benefit at the start of the course not so much how long the award is for. But some institutions will only accept being in the WRAG group for ESA as a qualifying benefit not the Support group because of those same funding rules...)

This lot appears to accept Support Group provided I'm earning less than 16*Minimum Wage/week, or something, but I'm gonna not worry about it until such a time as they insist I do, I think...

Because i have been dolescum since the 90's i've done quite a bit of Adult Ed /FE over the years and the paperwork has gotten increasingly complex with each funding cutregime...

I dunno where my fake MA is, oh well, no one has ever needed to see y certificates, because it is possible to verify claims about degrees by calling the university, which is rather more secure than looking at a piece of paper you could have printed yourself...

That is an entire something of a website that tells you outright lies. And then asks for various things that it will be tedious to get, to boot.

You can upload Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and images, but we only accept .jpgs. But you can still upload the others! We just won't accept them.
