adam FIXED the GARAGE. (... garidge.) We'd both spent some time failing to work out why you needed to nudge one side closed with your knee or your toe (or whatever) to lock it, instead just ingraining the physical habits and muscle memory, and then last week A spent Some More Time messing about with the wiring and spotted what was wrong and fixed it. So now I'm having to unlearn the automatic but redundant knee-wiggle. (I am interacting with the garage most days, when I go to the plot: it's where the Tramper is stored, so this is a big quality-of-life improvement but also! a b i g adjustment.)

I'd suspect that puts you one up on 80% of the garage* owning population.

* Definitely garidge, rhymes with carriage - this used to be my metric for whether Dragon Dictate had gotten any closer to deciphering my accent.

Yup, I have to get [personal profile] countertony to open the garage for me. I don't quite know what's wrong with it but it's almost as if my arms aren't quite long enough.

I think I tend to say 'garidge', but my father says 'garahge'. Had an interesting discussion with Tony the other day about whether or not one calls a petrol station a garage - he tends not to, I tend to, but I grew up in the country and my nearest one was a coach depot and an MOT centre and possibly a used car place as well as selling petrol and penny sweets. But I wouldn't call the petrol station attached to Tesco a garage, and Tony agrees that nobody ever called the establishment conveniently located close to his university halls anything other than 'the Esso garage'.

Interesting point on garage vs petrol station. I definitely started with garage (grew up in a market town), but I think petrol station is taking over in general usage as the market has swung dominantly over to big chains with single use petrol stations that might have an air hose if you're lucky.

You remind me that "get a new garage door" has been on the to-do since we got it fixed in ... 2017. Oops.
