Reading. No Future Without Forgiveness, Desmond Tutu. Fairly slow going but my goodness I am learning a whole lot about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission; I am really appreciating the detailed and thoughtful and nuanced discussion of approaches to justice.

Lots of LaTeX documentation, as I try to remember how any of this works. (I'm prepping a preprint version of the SUBMITTED ARTICLE and therefore typesetting it, with the bonus that I am also obviously going to typeset my thesis properly so having the tables et cet converted is useful. I am therefore, of course, spotting a bunch of mistakes I SWEAR weren't there when I finally hit the submit button, and trying to sit on my impulse to e-mail in with "hey, I made some corrections...")

Watching. Gravity, mostly. I am still not at "able to talk about it without crying".

Creating. I have not been doing any colouring (partly because I'm stalled on the hibiscus because I'm dissatisfied, from a technical perspective, with the colour of the petals), but I did spend... Multiple Hours... sorting out a colour palette for the graphs in aforementioned submitted paper, with many thanks to this resource.

Making & mending. Lots more darning! I am most of the way through making repairs to a flat bedsheet I've been meaning to fix for Really Quite Some Time Now. It feels like slow going but I think I am Quite Pleased about, well, about managing to make lumpy ugly functional darning. All of this was inspired partly by observing the repairs to some of the tableclothes and teatowels I liberated from the mouldering ancestral pile, which have encouraged me to Screw Up My Courage and have a go myself, and, well, I'm nowhere near as neat as my grandmother's (and possibly my great-grandmother's) needlework, but it's still a nice sense of continuity, the using-her-darning-mushroom and acquiring-a-skill (and possibly even her thread; can't remember whether the cotton I'm using came from presumably-someone-else's-grandmother via a charity shop or from my own).

We also Constructed the new-to-us sofabed that's replacing the one A partially (inadvertently! could have happened to anybody!) broke. This was An Adventure but did, in the end, Work.

Growing. [personal profile] sebastienne came to look after me this weekend and very generously shovelled me out of the sodding house and to the allotment, via means of A Lift, and then came and picked me up again a bit later. Achieved: feeding the bin, and a pretty substantial chunk of weeding. In the course of said weeding, I discovered that I had not in fact unearthed all of the shallots I'd put into the wee bed, by dint of realising that some of them were in fact growing! I'd been pretty disappointed by the low return on investment, so I am charmed and delighted (and reenthused about getting regular trips back into my routine; currently somewhat complicated by faff with charging the Tramper, but nevertheless & still).

And I found the drill bit I'd lost when I was rummaging around with seeds this evening, so infrastructure can finally continue, too!

Elsewise, the lemon seems to be VERY happy about having been brought inside, judging by the number of flowers it's making, and I should tomorrow get around to giving it some winter food (which has finally arrived); I really need to pot up the holy basil & also prepare a pot for the string-of-pearls; life continues.

Playing. We played Botanicula by curling up in front of a laptop and taking it in turns/talking about what to do! And then I did another run-through to clean up the steam achievements, though infuriatingly I am still three creature cards short of the full set.

A is, I think, Very Pleased that I am finally, extremely dubiously, playing Portal. I wish to note also that I am kind of massively impressed with myself for, like, playing A New Game... in front of an audience... that is Potentially Judging Me... and mostly coping? So, you know, go me.

Lots of I <3 Hue.

Poking. Particularly pleased with the wild-caught 100% Drifloon and 96% Magnemite (albeit fairly low level) & the hatched 96% Klink. Also acquired a research reward 100% Tentacool.
