Yes! It's a celery cultivar that's been selected for root vegetable-y-ness, rather than stems & leaves; APPARENTLY this has also happened with parsley (not that I managed to plant any this year, because carpet, bah).
It sort of tastes like celery-flavoured parsnip, only, you know, if celery weren't horrid.
