I got to ~75% of the way through Ninefox Gambit yesterday and abruptly had to stop and stare at a wall for 30 seconds because I'd just realised why the message from the Shuos on the game map was shaped like a gear.
I have been Neglecting My Duties to burrow into this novel more generally, so unfortunately this comment is sooooooooomewhat focussed on that particular deed of yours, but I fucking adore how careful you are with the details and how coherent all the characters are and the way everything is (and isn't!) fitting together and What Motivates People; I've not yet got a ~~thorough analysis~~ or whatever, but I am so glad this book (along with all your short fiction!) exists, and I am so glad I have the brain to actually read at the moment.
I am especially adoring the servitors.
Just, ahhhh, first of all your generosity with writing and second of all your willingness to be ridiculous or imperfect or whatever in public and third of all how fucking soothing it is to read a book where I relax into the default assumption that any character whose gender hasn't been specified yet is probably female, and your sharing of your opinions and thoughts and fascinations, and you make a whole bunch of my friends and acquaintances very happy, and I am so glad that you exist and are gently readjusting my brain.
And I love reading about your relationship with your family, too, because... I have had a paucity of healthy familial interaction, and it is a balm to my soul to watch people like each other.
