Helen Arney and Marian Call are fantastic geek songstresses -- I saw them both perform last night, at An Evening Of Unnecessary Detail, which was great -- and over the next week they're playing Bath (today), Edinburgh (tomorrow), Manchester (1st), London (again; the 2nd) and Cambridge (the third). To be fair, we look nothing alike! People have thought we're friends rather than siblings when meeting us before.

I like Helen Arney a lot.

(Last spring, she did a performance at the Cambridge Union, I think for the science festival, which I went to. And she did Lehrer's Elements song, and got briefly stuck, and I was able to sing out the next element for her, and she was off again.)

But I really can't go out on a schoolnight at the moment :(

Yes, she did the Elements song on Tuesday, with the extra verse for the many others that have subequently been disc-avard; and then Marian Call did the thing, and it was Pretty Excellent.

Oooh, you didn't know about Marian Call? What about the Doubleclicks, have you discovered them?

I have tried really hard to like the Doubleclicks and they just... do the opposite of It for me. I might give them another try at some point -- it's occasionally the case that I come back to something and really like it! -- but as yet insufficient time has elapsed for that to be productive. Sorryyyyyyy. <3

oh dude no apologies necessary for not liking a thing! I just think of them as very similar to Marian and they sing about dinosaurs a lot, so I wanted to be sure you knew they existed.
