The other thing I've been doing this week is starting to get my head round using DragonDictate. I didn't end up using it for any of the wheelchair essay, not least because I'm still getting to grips with the editing syntax - altering existing text turns out to be ludicrously difficult at least initially. Nonetheless, have a post that's almost entirely been dictated including the HTML with only minor hair tearing. Go me on skills acquisition, or something; I am going to have to get a lot better at this before I'm willing to write a thesis in it.

Wow, I am *really* impressed you're able to dictate HTML with DD. I use it for manuscript writing but OMG, so much hair pulling. My current process is handwrite --> dictate --> fix all the errors/general editing.

I did write the bulk of my thesis with Dragon, but again, I edited a lot at the keyboard afterward, including all the LaTeX stuff. Which was not ideal for my wrists, but the best I could manage.

If you're already doing html, though, it must be working better for you! Maybe you enunciate better than me.

I've had several tries with Dragon over the years, mostly when having much more arm issues than I am currently, and I never really got to the point of achieving anything with it, so go you!

When my RSI was particularly bad back in the late 90s I used Dragon for daily sysadmin work. Having a lot of custom Dragon and emacs macros helped a lot. Also, I found that my voice became hoarse with having to break off between each utterance (this was not NaturallySpeaking) and it helped a lot to have a jug of water at my desk all the time.
