They're a left-wing political party, with a particularly in-your-face strategy on the streets. They're usually particularly desperate to make you buy their party newspaper -- not least because the party members are forced to bulk-buy the damn thing, and must either sell it on or have their home taken over by bundles of unwanted marxist commentary.

KNEW IT. Or rather, I didn't know that about the papers, but I guessed it was something shitty like that. At least about the version we have here in Melbourne. I'd always through there was something weird and fucked up about how the principal political action I'd ever seen this socialist group take was... sell things.

I'd assumed they were both exploiting their volunteers/party members and were also a secular cult, and was very unhappy last rally I went to that they were circulating their collection bins in such a way as to imply they were part of the organisation hosting the rally (it was Slutwalk, and they weren't) or that the money would in some way go to the same cause (it wouldn't.) They tried to recruit a friend of mine, but she was skeeved off and backed away.
