(the thing about todo/tada lists is, of course, that I always look like I'm getting heaps done because having worked out what needs doing it is much easier to mechanically work my way through the things than it is to decide to do anything else; I DID reward myself with ~30 minutes of gaming partway through after a particularly unpleasant task, and again made sure I stopped at a good discrete stopping point. I still haven't worked out how to make tasks small and specific and rote enough to apply this approach at work to the "thinking" bits rather than the experimental bits; I suspect that's because it can't be done, and that's why I find it hard... or at least it can't be done in quite the same way, and needs an extra layer of abstraction.)
