vital functions

Reading. I have technically read a tiny bit more of I Contain Multitudes (Ed Yong), but alas mostly I have not been able to work up the attention span to Actually Consume Words.

Instead I have been reading many many recipes. I am I think now mostly set up over at Eat Your Books...

Writing. I have managed to bash out some words on the manual entry for Doing Lost Property. It is definitely not done. It definitely needs both more words and some significant reorganisation. But it does now exist.

Oh! And also some DWP nonsense, which is Good To Have Done.

Cooking. I have just made DUNDEE CAKE, and am this time around experimenting with dried apple. We Will See.

An aubergine, green bean and Thai basil stir-fry, which alas I was less into than I'd hoped.

Eating. A made japchae!

Creating. ... it's been "copy out arrow sigils" season today, because any moment now there's going to be An Event and I'd like to have the arrows catalogue up to date for that...

Growing. PURPLE BASIL SPROUTING. Also some of the non-purple basils.

Allotment raspberries continue. Allotment squash are being very brave and continuing to Grow Leaves (will they even manage to flower before frost happens? lol who knows, but at least I have provided myself with proof-of-concept for next year). Greek Gigantes are definitely setting fruit and some of it isn't even being immediately inhaled by gastropods and their horrid little radulae. Dwarf French beans are merrily growing leaves and might or might not manage to fruit. No sign of saffron yet.

Observing. Shit teenage robin spent some more time apparently trying to land in my bike helmet, poor thing, having still not got the hang of windows...
