  1. Poached quince and winter fruit in spiced wine. A opened a bottle of red last night, decided it wasn't drinkable to the extent that he was going to put the rest of it down the sink, and went ??? !!! when I was all "... you know the way you got quince and I've not done anything with them yet? would you like me to solve Multiple Problems?" SO ANYWAY I: added a couple of allspice berries and a star anise, used some frozen lemon and orange peel instead of fresh slices of lemon and orange (because I freeze peel), and used dried apples (from my mother's tree) rather than fresh. It is Very Tasty and Adam is once again accusing me, plaintively, of having Kept Secrets From Him. I have told him I can Just Do This given wine and fruit Multiple Times, I repli. s e c r e t, he insist. (This is all in good humour.)
  2. The International Guild of Knot Tyers - Solent Branch is absolutely, breathtakingly, charming. I found them via a net-making tutorial, thereby learning that verily our ancestors have worked out how to make nets MUCH better than my clumsy beginners' reinterpretation, but mostly! I am just! charmed! Clear specific videos, many of which (accurately!) have "Just The Knot No Chat" in their titles. Delightful A-Z of tutorials. I think I have found the knots autistic. I am going to leave a cheery comment on their YouTube channel. Highly recommended internet content!
