vital functions (in brief)
Aug. 6th, 2023 09:26 pmReading. Making a start on book four of Martha Wells' Raksura series. A couple of continuity bits that are making me go "... huh?" but I have now got to the explicit "yeah, all of that in book 1 was super-[gay]*".
Read another chapter of Digger with A, feat. VAMPIRE CUCURBITS.
Made a bit more progress through Ottolenghi's Plenty & am leaning towards at the very least making a list of things to try, even if I don't wind up acquiring the book.
* read as queer & poly by the audience, not considered at all remarkable in its own context
Watching. The Good Omens 2 trailer; March of the Penguins 2, which was pleasant enough but not enthralling or for that matter inspiring -- I was not hugely whelmed with the choices made by the folk writing the narration script.
Playing. Tentatively picked up Chroma again and am poking desultorily at the point we got stuck. (Sorry, S, still have not scraped together brain to do any of the actual useful things.)
Cooking. Very little, because I have been away a lot over the last fortnight. BUT: freezer-bread worked for the 20-hour turnaround window, and tonight I have made a pile of tagine that will hopefully last us for long enough that I don't need to think very much until next groceries arrive.
Eating. Takeaway from Katsuri Indian Restaurant in Southport. All the usual foods at Empire. Fruit bowl continues an excellent innovation.
Exploring. Poked around Southport a bit! Found some good architecture and a lot of charity shops.
Growing. FIRST TOMATO today. Also a squash is setting fruit! Also aubergines! Many MANY things grow and nothing died during the Many Away Times.
Observing. Kestrel! At a service station on the way back down to London.
