Reading. The twelfth and final chapter of 20020: The Future of College Football, whereupon! we discovered! that it's a two-parter and the sequel is going to go live in... "spring"! So that's very exciting!

Max Gladstone, Two Serpents Rise. This reread is going slowly but I am enjoying it a lot. Read more... )

Writing. This week I have mostly been faffing about with typesetting and figure-wrangling, but! These are things I have done! And I am hauling my head around to Sorting Out Chapter 5.

Watching. ... do you know, I am absolutely sure I watched something in addition to Cute Animal Videos, but I have no idea what. It wasn't CXG! It wasn't More BBC Animals! My brain is refusing to disgorge details, though. Maybe I... didn't?

Listening. TMA 196.

Playing. Jumped in on a round of Among Us with some cousins on an evening earlier in the week, which was v pleasant.

I continue to have opinions about A's animal husbandry in Oxygen Not Included, and also we continue to play Myst IV together.

We did indeed also finish the Reptiles puzzle on Monday, and have left it out to enjoy looking at since.

Elsewise: dragons! horn!

Cooking. Mejadra (into which I snuck some bonus cloves), plus tomato-chickpea-apricot stew with ras el hanout, with the mejadra itself being our New Recipe Of The Week. Sweet potato wedges to go with salad and tortilla (made mostly by A). Too Much Crumble, in that I accidentally prepared both too much fruit and, subsequently and unintentionally, too much topping -- so that's done us excellently and we finished it up tonight. More cauliflower curry. (Meal planning is working obnoxiously well.)

I have been having fun with consuming the vast quantities of houmous I made late last week in pitta bread with salad and griddled halloumi.

Exploring. We Went For A Walk t'other evening, because A felt Inspired, and I observed lots of crocuses and daffodils and irises and cyclamen (okay fine the cyclamen were on the walk to the allotment) along with some excellent sunset and a flock of parakeets. We poked around a little way west down the hill our flat's on top of; I can in fact remember how to use a wheelchair.

Growing. Oh gosh, okay, so: HATCHING. The basil seedlings need an inordinate amount of watering; I've got somewhere in excess of seven chillis (of a variety of flavours) come up, and both trays of tomato are Producing Seedlings.

The blueberry on the patio is in riotous pale-green leaf, and I think some of the ornamental bulbs are starting to come green. The pepper and chilli-from-my-parents I attempted to overwinter are still alive (the former more in doubt than the latter), which meant I spent some of yesterday (and then this morning) Dealing With aphids. The lemon still has some leaves.

At the allotment, sticking a pseudo-cloche over one of the purple sprouting broccoli has resulted in it having much more obvious sprouts, leading to the reluctant conclusion that I really do need to get some pigeon netting for next year (or possibly even later this year, sigh). Beetroot and carrots remain in the ground and continue or resume (respectively) putting up greenery; the new artichoke foliage I was mildly concerned had been killed by the snow appears to have recovered; and we made Significant Progress in weeding the wee raised bed and sowing broad beans. We did not, alas, get to the peas or the shallots (or the lambs' lettuce), but I spent enough time grubbing around in the soil to feel properly enthusiastic about it (and also progressively more okay with the commute). Hopefully I can keep the enthusiasm bubbling along through chapter 5 rewrites and then get myself back out to see if any of my grandmother's peas are still any good!
