My activities this week have been somewhat curtailed by the, you know, ongoing healing!
Celebrating. The turning of the year: the longest night has passed.
Reading. Decoding the Heavens, Jo Marchant. I CACKLED at the endnote about Freeth et al. having decided they didn't want to talk to her any more when she decided she was going to write this book.
Call Down the Hawk, Maggie Stiefvater. I decided I wanted some reliable-yet-novel distraction. This is that. I am probably very glad the whole trilogy is out.
I have also spent some time reading NHS leaflets on Coping With Ureteric Stents, and have felt wholly unedified by the exhortations to reflect on how much better this is than my kidney stones were.
And I have actually prodded the literature a bit more about migraine and endometriosis. Thoughts to follow, maybe. (Don't want to jinx it...)
Cooking. Teebäckerei! More of the Ottolenghi soft-gingerbread-tiles-with-rum-butter-glaze! Another big batch of pumpkin & sage macaroni cheese. Scones.
Eating. A made me pancakes yesterday! For which occasion we opened his two new bottles of maple syrup and were mildly surprised to both have a mild preference in the direction that wasn't what we'd expected.
Creating. I did a small quantity of design including Arranging And Taking a dedicated photo for the purposes of A Festive Gift. I still need to actually score and fold the card, and then find it an envelope, but it exists. Still casting around for one last present...
