some good things make a post
Apr. 2nd, 2024 09:01 pm- A is COLOURS again. Painted him yesterday (having done bleach on Sunday); spent the night in a fetching clingfilm bonnet; washed the dye out this morning; and he is BRIGHT. We have not had the cope to wrangle this for Enough months that we needed two thingies of bleach, but. There we go. Colours in time for The End Of The Month, which is going to be An Experience.
- Mango sticky rice for pudding. Hurrah self-indulgent bamboo sticky rice steamer basket, for all it doesn't get used much.
- Soup! Managed to coax myself into Making This Week's Soup this morning, so lunch is Sorted. I continue very pleased with the make-carrot-and-leek-soup, Then Add Cubes method. I am starting to contemplate the switch to minestrone for the summer.
- Various nightshades I finally potted up on Sunday night already looking much happier for it.
- Post brought me Many Pakidges today (i.e. 3 of the 7 Objects I asked Oxfam to send me)... and also brought A One Giant Pakidge, which is a new-to-us industrial laminator for Admin: the LRP. It is very large and very fast and we need to work out how to fashion it a hat and -- A having spent a significant chunk of both lunch break and this evening gleefully taking it apart and putting it back together again -- overall Hurrah That Budget Decision, and good for me for suggesting we try to find one of Methuselah's cousins for sale second-hand, and A for going "... what about an upgrade, though?" (Methuselah is an Extremely Venerable laminator that has been with PD for a Very Long Time, and has undergone multiple rounds of surgery, and is still the best laminator in that damn field. New one still needs a name, but having a back-up that is not Methuselah's feckless younger cousin is going to be such a relief.)

Date: 2024-04-03 07:13 am (UTC)Methuselah's feckless younger cousin being Cyclops. So named because it has one eye that we desperately want to blind, because it controls the power saving function that means it's effectively useless for what we need.
