Reading. This One Sky Day, Leone Ross. Having now finished it I can confirm that I do in fact love it. I am delighted; I am working out how many formats I want to buy it in for pressing upon other people.
Vagabonds!, Eloghosa Osunde. Brain is reluctant to engage. C'mon, brain, it's going back to the library Very Soon will ye or nill ye.
Also more A Slob Comes Clean.
Cooking. A half-quantity of Meera Sodha's aubergine & pea curry, to use up a spare aubergine & provide additional veg to go along with the final pair of aloo paratha and the last of the Dishoom-recipe black dal.
A couple of recipes from the Terre à Terre cookbook, lo these many years later! Main (Himmel und Erde) mildly disappointing -- good ideas but didn't quite gel, in a way that I don't think is entirely down to misexecution. Taste of Honey, on the other hand (lemon buttermilk soufflés, pear baked with lemon juice and honey and chestnuts, bay custard) was splendid and we are very happy with it.
Making & mending. Okay, so, this one is mostly Adam, but: A YEAR after Storm Eunice (18th Feb 2022!) the greenhouse is FINALLY BACK IN ONE PIECE. This wound up taking Quite Some Doing including totally emptying the water butt (in a responsible fashion!) but it is -- bar one warped bit of plastic I need to replace, and the final triangular pane of glass that can't go in until said plastic is repaired or replaced -- done. I am delighted and relieved.
(A also put together the frame for the Bonus Fruit Cage Door while I was faffing with something else at the plot, and one of this week's jobs is to get it installed and operational.)
Growing. ... did I prune the Ribes last week already? Well, just in time, anyway, because they are starting to be Enthusiastic about the possibility of Spring. The Chaenomeles japonica from my mother is now Installed in an Ex-Hole at the plot that will hopefully thus be rendered less of a death trap. I keep meaning to sow things and not managing it; that's some more of a job for this week.
Observing. I went over to the allotment one evening, very briefly, to collect some horseradish; I got beautiful skies there and back again, travelling as I was at more-or-less dusk. :)
