Sep. 12th, 2021 11:57 pmPlaying. Some Fluxx, including a very entertaining round where I had a winning-on-the-next-turn hand... which A took off me with Trade Hands... that was not a winning hand for him. The expression of dawning realisation followed by the increasingly frantic double- and triple-checking was wonderful. It then took Quite Some Time for him to actually win. :)
We also played a round of Splendor! Which I still enjoy, hurrah.
Cooking. I actually managed to get the Apfelmus into jars that I then further sterilised!
Eating. The last of this year's crop of figs! And then on Friday, on our way home from the zoo, we stopped off (as I mentioned) at Ruby Violet, which was a wonderful Treat.
I have also Experienced a specific new-to-me instantiation of Giant Couscous. Discussion of texture: ( Read more... )
Exploring. London Zoo! Where we now have a membership for the next year, because we did not get to look at as many of the animals as we wanted to (I totally failed to even mention the Humboldt Penguins That Yelled and the Herons Attempting To Blend In!). It GREAT.
Growing. I got saffron bulbs into the ground in a number of different places, and with any luck some of them will take! I also sowed oregano, and am delighted that the parsley at home is now big enough that I can actually use it in cooking (it's needed a certain amount of babying to get going, and I'm very hopeful that it has reached the point of taking off...).
At the plot, I have been Feeling Bad about Not Getting More Things Grown This Year, and consoling myself that, well, Thesis. But! The sweetcorn has actually finally developed ears that are starting to fill out, and the Cosse Violette climbing up them are actually producing beans (currently still tiny and green with bright purple seams), and it is also possible that I will wind up having managed to grow one (1) aubergine this year! So. Still more than nothing. :)
Observing. The bats have still not gone to sleep!
Elsewise, see also: zoo.
