kaberett: a patch of sunlight on the carpet, shaped like a slightly wonky heart (light hearted)

It's a love meme!

Because November is hard for lots of us, and in particular is something I find hard (my not-quite-month of mourning begins tomorrow, officially); because it's spring in the southern hemisphere and the days just keep getting shorter in the northern; because I talked to my counsellor yesterday about all of the shapes and forms that value takes.

Autumn crocuses growing through a carpet of sweet chestnut husks.

This post will close to new nominations at the end of the month (because November), though I'll keep unscreening comments after that point if any new ones do come in.

Love meme

♥ Nominate yourself or someone else, anonymously or logged-in, by putting your/their username in the subject line of a comment to this entry. If you do not know for certain the person's preferred pronouns and they do not list them on their DW profile, please use gender neutral pronouns as a default. Other people can then reply to that comment with goopy declarations of love, reasons that person is awesome, sparkly expressions of admiration, etc! All comments are screened, and I'll unscreen them as they arrive. (So, if your comment doesn't appear right away, please be patient; I'll leave my online status at the bottom of this post to keep people updated on whether I'm unscreening or not.)

♥ If you don't want to be nominated, or don't want comments referring to certain things [body/appearance, wrong pronouns, etc] to appear on your thread, please let me know; I won't unscreen any such comment or nomination. If I make a mistake in unscreening something, if you want a comment to your thread unscreened or deleted, if you have any concerns you need to raise -- please just tell me, and I'll attend to it as soon as I can. If there are any inappropriate comments made to a thread, I will check with the person being referred to before unscreening.

♥ Share the love: please do send people over here (and to your own thread!) Words-and-deeds it up if you like, but that's not obligatory!

♥ These guidelines are modeled on [personal profile] dingsi's love meme guidelines, with modifications by [personal profile] jjhunter and wording lifted from [personal profile] surpassingly.

♥ That's it -- happy posting!

Even when writing about things that fall far outside my core interests, does it in such a fascinating manner.

I really enjoy your posts and frequently when reading the paper in the morning think 'I wonder what [personal profile] oursin has to say about this'.

When I was first getting confident about describing clearly wrong or silly things as wrong or silly (mostly but not limited to eg Guardian opinion pieces), sometimes I would practice by asking myself, "what would [personal profile] oursin say?"

[personal profile] oursin curates some of the funniest and most insightful linkblogging I've ever encountered, and has what seems to be deeply fabulous hair.

[personal profile] oursin knows all the things and she does a good and excellant WHUT! especially when confronted with journalists who should know things but often do not.  I've learnt about history and archives and Victorian attitudes towards sex from reading her journal. She also makes bread. Most delightful hedgehog.

Oh, goodness, where to start? I've admired [personal profile] oursin for years both personally and professionally. In a quiet way and possibly without knowing it, she's encouraged me to always look for complexity and to never been content with simple, neat explanations. And she is the wielder of a mighty codfish.

You write such lovely things. Like the post earlier today, for example—the cars metaphor is absolutely brilliant. (Topic sucks, but that's hardly your fault.)

So learned, so smart, so insightful, and she wears it lightly. I feel so lucky that she puts her scholarship out where anybody can admire its sparkle. I enjoy the lovers' quarrel that she has with the world. I wish I could cook supper for her sometime. (Fresh bread tonight, at least; James Beard's two-hour recipe. Dense but good. )

She also has one of the best jobs in the world.
