kaberett: a patch of sunlight on the carpet, shaped like a slightly wonky heart (light hearted)

It's a love meme!

Because November is hard for lots of us, and in particular is something I find hard (my not-quite-month of mourning begins tomorrow, officially); because it's spring in the southern hemisphere and the days just keep getting shorter in the northern; because I talked to my counsellor yesterday about all of the shapes and forms that value takes.

Autumn crocuses growing through a carpet of sweet chestnut husks.

This post will close to new nominations at the end of the month (because November), though I'll keep unscreening comments after that point if any new ones do come in.

Love meme

♥ Nominate yourself or someone else, anonymously or logged-in, by putting your/their username in the subject line of a comment to this entry. If you do not know for certain the person's preferred pronouns and they do not list them on their DW profile, please use gender neutral pronouns as a default. Other people can then reply to that comment with goopy declarations of love, reasons that person is awesome, sparkly expressions of admiration, etc! All comments are screened, and I'll unscreen them as they arrive. (So, if your comment doesn't appear right away, please be patient; I'll leave my online status at the bottom of this post to keep people updated on whether I'm unscreening or not.)

♥ If you don't want to be nominated, or don't want comments referring to certain things [body/appearance, wrong pronouns, etc] to appear on your thread, please let me know; I won't unscreen any such comment or nomination. If I make a mistake in unscreening something, if you want a comment to your thread unscreened or deleted, if you have any concerns you need to raise -- please just tell me, and I'll attend to it as soon as I can. If there are any inappropriate comments made to a thread, I will check with the person being referred to before unscreening.

♥ Share the love: please do send people over here (and to your own thread!) Words-and-deeds it up if you like, but that's not obligatory!

♥ These guidelines are modeled on [personal profile] dingsi's love meme guidelines, with modifications by [personal profile] jjhunter and wording lifted from [personal profile] surpassingly.

♥ That's it -- happy posting!

Toft! You are one of my bestest friends, and frequently a highlight of my evening when we manage to coincide. I love your writing, both fiction and blogging, your enthusiasm for the wackier corners of your academic studies (I have told so many people the Charlemagne necrophilia story, you don't even know), and your love for fandom and fannish objects. Also, I keep your podfic of the one where they are globalisation protesters in my mp3 player's list of things to shuffle, because it always cheers me up when it pops up.

A salute to your cool beauty, to comments that are always apropos where they occur. May your mourning be gentle with you-- or may fierceness pay off right away. Such difficult work. May you find comfort in all sorts of places as you go.

Happy birthday!

I have great appreciation for, well, the wisdom of your writing over the years. Your posts about your own queer identity, your relationship with your religion, and so many other things have done a lot to increase my understanding. And you've written some of my favorite fics as well -- who else could get me to ship Wesley/Harmony on a very serious level?

You're a brilliant, kind, wise person, and I feel privileged to know you.

Even when writing about things that fall far outside my core interests, does it in such a fascinating manner.

Your icons and comics love make me happy, and you've been really gracious and friendly whenever we've interacted, which I really appreciate as someone new to both comics and icon-making. :)

[personal profile] forthwritten is kind and generous and clever and hilarious. I am always excited (and a little worried, as I should be) when I get an email from them because it is guaranteed to be interesting and possibly slightly scarring.

I love all the book reviews you've been posting this year, though they're terrible for making my "to-read" list impossibly long :D

So glad that we're "internet friends" because your words are always insightful, and I get so much from talking to you and reading your posts.

You're smart and funny and fun to know.

Thank you for all your thoughtful book reviews, both at your journal and at Goodreads - they've helped me a lot. And thank you particularly for your review of The Scorpio Races - because why on earth would I have wanted to read a book about carnivorous water horses? - but it is now one of my very, very favorites. ♥

And I don't know if I said thank you enough for the ride home that time - it was such a help to us in a stressful time. And even though our fandoms don't overlap too much, it was great to have someone fannish to talk to!

Your poetry is excellent and your brain-poking posts are also really helpful for me to read and go "oh, hmm!" and take with me. I think an important thing about the space you make to be imperfect is that it is a kind space to be imperfect, which is a valuable thing that can be invisible.

They cook fantastic food, they talk about things I find fascinating, they give good hugs, they're enthusiastic about perfume and comforting sensual things. They make me feel safe, but more than that - they make me feel that my life isn't just time wasted.

They are also an excellent communicator and are very good at letting me know when I have done something wrong; which helps me not worry that I have done something wrong all the rest of the time.

They are playful, and they make me very happy.

Your experience and advice were extremely helpful to me four years ago when I was dealing with brain things. When you write about work you come across as a great person to work with, who gets things done well and doesn't fuck around, which I find weirdly reassuring because it makes me think there are likely to be more yous out there who I might be lucky enough to work with too.
