Because November is hard for lots of us, and in particular is something I find hard (my not-quite-month of mourning begins tomorrow, officially); because it's spring in the southern hemisphere and the days just keep getting shorter in the northern; because I talked to my counsellor yesterday about all of the shapes and forms that value takes.

Staranise writes thoughtfully and well about people, everyday life, ethics, thought processes, cats and occasionally, fandom meta. She is kind, careful, helpful, and resilient. She's given me good advice when I needed some, and warm company when I needed that, and I hope I can do the same for her when and if necessary.

And her fic is brilliant.

Recessional is a great writer, a thoughtful person, and a good friend. She is compassionate, perceptive and takes no prisoners. I've enjoyed getting to know her in the last few years, and hope to get to know her better over the next few.

she/they/any gender-neutral pronouns (it's complicated but any of those options are okay)

staranise says interesting, thought-provoking things. She also has a lot of compassion. She's a force for good in the world.

I've really enjoyed her take on several fandoms. She thinks very deeply about characters and is good at conveying her understanding of them, either through fic or meta.

I also enjoy it when she goes on a worldbuilding kick, either fannishly or for her original worlds. She's got an excellent world-generator in her brain that produces an extraordinary wealth of detail and complexity. Catnip for the worldbuilding-fan. :)

holli has written some of my favorite fanfic about Steve Rogers, who is one of my favorite characters ever. I love her writing and her fannish perspective and have reread some of her stories many times.

I enjoy her enthusiasm about things like vintage clothing and paper dolls, too, even though I know nothing about either and am not a fashion-conscious person at all. I just like watching people be competent and enthusiastic about things, and

holli is competent and enthusiastic about many different things.

You're good at making spaces for people to be creative and be in community. I remember your tower in Glitch very fondly. I like your poetry, too.

forthwritten will (as they know) get a proper comment from me later properly, but in the meantime they are sat next to me showing me pictures of tortoises and feeding me tea and it is great and I am grateful <3

thatyourefuse is one of the most fabulous and brainy people I know, once got screamingly lost in New York for me, and her writing makes me want to hang up my cap in shame for how good it is.

M's writing is not only fantastic, it's nailbitingly real. M as a person has kicked me in the arse second and thirdhand through her amazing advice and intelligence.

Elly is inspiring in their dedication to kindness, to acting on the world in the best way they can, and to art. I always like seeing posts from them - even when the content is about something sad or angrifying, the fact an Elly exists in the world, being as bright a light for good as they can, is a reminder that the world can and does have good in it. Even apart from all the other reasons to like having Elly as a friend - funny, interesting, thought-provoking - I think that would be enough to make me very glad they are here. :)
