Because November is hard for lots of us, and in particular is something I find hard (my not-quite-month of mourning begins tomorrow, officially); because it's spring in the southern hemisphere and the days just keep getting shorter in the northern; because I talked to my counsellor yesterday about all of the shapes and forms that value takes.

You dare greatly! You write good poems, and think interesting thoughts, and are always learning and sharing what you learn. I'm glad to have you in my life.

I keep being amazed and extremely grateful that someone as awesome as Miriam exists and is part of my life. It's really hard to express what's so great about her, but she just makes people's lives better in tangible, practical ways and makes the world better by talking and preaching and writing about what she's passionate about.

staranise is wise and compassionate and dedicated and really good at explaining complicated things about psychology and about fighting great battles in public in a way that provides inspiration to the rest of us.

palmer1984 seems to genuinely apply thought to her life and then follow through on the conclusions -- rather than finding justifications for things she was going to do anyway. She's also very good company.

I once went on two days to two parties with

hairyears present, each time with somebody who didn't know him. On the way back each of them told me, unprompted, that talking to

hairyears had been one of the highlights of the event for them.

hairyears may not see himself as a glittering socialite -- but in a way he is. Kind, full of interesting thoughts and stories, and open to people.
