You might be an experimental scientist if...

... on checking the work calendar to determine whether you can manage an overnight run on a Friday, you establish that in fact you can because nobody has the machine booked on the Saturday or Sunday and consequently you start seriously considering blowing off (1) a friend's housewarming and (2) your mum's birthday, because data.

(Relatedly: dear Wednesday!Alex, thank you heaps for making an enormous vat of leek-and-potato soup to be eaten straight from the fridge. Love, today!Alex, who has eaten about three portions of the stuff.)

\o/ for all the soup! I was gone for a month and have done no cooking since we got home over a week ago. I'm failing at the adulting a little. Oh, wait, I made black beans and I baked challah. I really need to cook some actual food.

Apparently I'm not an experimental scientist. Which isn't really a surprise...but it is unfortunate.

I am not an experimental scientist.... but I'm certainly not a theorist, so unless we introduce a third category ("computational scientist?"), I'm closer to the experimental side.....

...and yes, I am very aware that I shall be going on holiday for two and a bit weeks and leaving my two computing workstations idle, which is a total of four weeks of wasted computing time, and this makes me feel sad and a little guilty...

The real question is - are you running it because the equipment is so tightly scheduled that not running it at every available opportunity screws up a timetable?
