& it's no use saying that it's not in your name ('cause it is in your name)
This feels like a turning point, to me. The commitment to choosing pretty, pithy lies over honesty, to cruelty over kindness, to anger over compassion, to bad faith -- my bones & my gut & my heart are heavy with what feels like my own implacable choice, between seeking refuge & survivors' guilt, or my own isolationism and wilful ignorance and everywhere that leads, or to -- somehow -- find, from somewhere, the conviction and the hope and courage and kindness I'd need to fight this, to keep on fighting this, to keep on in this country containing at least fourteen million people who are not only comfortable with but enthusiastic about the ongoing grave and systematic violation of my human rights.
