You have been so generous with your time and energy and emotional labour in the time I've known you, even at times when you can't have had much of it to spare, and when you've had plenty of experiences that could have taught you to be less kind.

You explain your subjects so clearly, and in a way that's not patronising or alienating, and the explanations have been so helpful to many people, including me. I like your books, and I also like your book reviews. You are one of the people who, after I get around to reading a genre book that was published a few years ago, I'll hit your tags up to see what you said about it, because I want to know.

In keeping with the theme of this post, there are two things in particular, one concrete and one abstract, that you make seem more possible, for me. The more concrete one is self-publishing. The advice and explanations you've given make it seem like hard work, not like a pie in the sky dream. And the more abstract one is, you make adapting and surviving seem possible, finding a new way forward when one path is blocked off in some ridiculous and unexpected way.

Love having you in my DW circle for great posts, interesting reviews, and just for surviving all the crap life's thrown at you recently.

I appreciate how clearly you explain concepts from psychology and show their application in lived experiences.

You're a great writer, a brilliant humourist, and a kind friend.

You work immensely hard for justice, by organizing online, by working with trauma teams, by training as a therapist.

You are valuable when you can't do any of things. You speak your truth and never stop, whether it's pretty and socially acceptable or not. You're amazingly funny. You are tough as hell.

I really enjoyed your book, and your righteous anger at the medical system helps me keep mine alive.

You do so many things to ease the pain of other people, through your work and your writing and all those incidents that could only happen to Rachel. You run into the fire to pull other people out. Thank you.

You have made me smile during very dark times, clarified my thought on more than one issue (though of course I can't think of any specifics right now), and written stories that stay with me.

I've already told you how much you helped me, but it's worth saying again. You literally changed my life. It's because of you -- your generosity, your trust and faith in me, your willingness to share what you knew -- that I can fairly consider myself a professional writer now. But even besides that, you're basically just great -- smart and funny and kind and tough. I'm glad I have you in my life.

You are an inspiration, and have opened doors for so many people, so unselfishly. Beyond that, you have a marvelous sense of humor and are so very strong and talented.

You're a brilliant and funny writer, and your books have pulled me through some of the darkest times in my life. Your posts on psychology are useful and concise, intelligent and compassionate. You continue being emotionally strong after going through horrifying events that would have broken down most people.
