I really really really think of you as a role model and a mentor and an Elderly Queer Auntish Being who unequivocally Has My Back. I feel safer and more sure knowing there's a you in the world -- you make it seem like there really is space for a me. You are brave and fierce and a stickler (in all the best ways) for what is right, and I greatly enjoy your eye for colour and your enthusiasm for hills and plants and small children, and it is a privilege and a joy to watch you explore yourself and parenting and security and blossom. I love you, and I'm so glad you've got support and a sheltered south-facing wall to grow with. <3

AND I am perpetually delighted by your story-telling -- your dry amusement, your wit, your cadence. When I were wee I wanted to be like you, when I grew up, and it is an honour & a delight to be your friend & increasingly your equal.

<333 Thank you. It is always particularly gratifying that people enjoy my stroppy story-telling - something, I think, about silver linings and recycling and spreading cheer.

It is reassuring, also, to be reminded that the work is visible and valued, and that it is obvious that I am trying my best, particularly when the reminder comes from people I trust to be okay with me making mistakes. <3

Thank you. <3 In particular it is a relief and a comfort that my sharing of difficulties is a cause for admiration not disgust or condescension; I want very dearly for it to be easier for people to make mistakes and correct and ask for help with same, without feeling like the world is ending.

(Counselling logs are, amusingly, Difficult at the moment; I'm wondering how much of the resistance to writing them up is the I-want-a-spotter thing, and how much of it is actually a useful self-protective development. Something like: there's a significant chunk of me that considers it hideously self-indulgent to spend so much time and money on myself, which is assuaged by writing things up in a way that is helpful for others -- and as of late there's another part of me that is resisting that framing, is trying to convince the rest of me that I'm allowed to do this because it's good for me and only because, rather than because I am doing it In Service Of Others. I'm glad to be doing it, and I'm delighted it helps, but it feels like things are going to shift around a little, possibly via a period of keeping the process notes mostly to myself and just writing up the conclusions, per my reflections the other day on the good-people-want-what-I-want fallacy-space...)

You are A Good Thing in my brain, you really are. A lighthouse, something that can withstand storms and still stand. I am happy to count you among the people I know and like hearing how they are doing. I really did mean to subscribe again when I moved journals, I just ailed at doing so when I moved over because it was a stressful time and I wasn't sleeping very much.
