"Running on Empty" is still one of my all-time faves; it is breath-takingly engrossing, and the way John and Rodney each use the memory of the other (however faint and fractured it may be) speaks to the deep friendship each feels for the other. Not to say I don't thoroughly enjoy your other stories -- I just lost half an hour in "Night Ops" because it caught my eye when I looked in your fic folder -- but RoE is my comfort-giving "old friend" story. (I've been a re-reader from childhood. Good stories shouldn't be read once and tossed away forever.)
When you mentioned your professional writing, I checked them out, and bought several. I thoroughly enjoyed your writing in the books I've read; others are still waiting on my Kindle. As much as I appreciate books (e- or paper), fanfic is my go-to escape; I like reading variations on the characters I already know. It's authors like you that make fanfic so worthwhile, and I'm certainly glad that you share your talent with us. Thank you. .
