I'm looking at buying 2nd hand on ebay, since I have it on good authority that going through the local Wheelchair Services branch is like getting blood from a particularly bigoted onion. That said, a friend of my partner's is adamant that I need to go get fitted in a shop to know all the measurements I need, and ebayers tend to be very vague on anything past seat-width. What else is baked into the frame that I need to watch out for, measurements-wise (or very expensive to change aftermarket, alternatively)?
She also said that people with my condition (Ehlers-Danlos Type 3, among others) tend to not get along with self-propelled chairs anyway, so I at least need to rent one first and see how I get on, I'm probably being horribly over-optimistic. X_x
How much do the e-motions affect the amount of energy you have to put in/how quick your fatigue gets unmanagable?
