Joshua! Joshua is another amazing author -- I am so impressed by his words. He is incredibly generous with his resources and with book recommendations and with friendship; he talks thoughtfully & sensibly about living with a not-always-cooperative body, with life tips & reading recs for those too. I am constantly appreciative of his kindness and his nudging of my brain.

The shenanigans with B&N in February are not unique. My friend Anne Walsh's book Homecoming got cross-listed with, if I recall correctly, somebody named Dan Walsh's book Homecoming. She wasn't pleased. I don't remember if she said anything about not selling through B&N anymore, but given that she sells her ebooks through Smashwords and Smashwords automatically exports to B&N (and other places), I don't know that she had a choice about it.

Lemur is encouragingly enthusiastic about public transport - we made a (failed) attempt to get to Mornington Crescent together when it visited me recently (by the way, I actually managed! But I didn't achieve any plausible photographic proof...), because it understands the importance of this even though it is USois.

It appreciates poetry and food and heritage, and it is inquisitive and thoughtful about pretty much everything. I am very fond.

ysobel holds my hand about pretty much anything I ask 'em to. This is largely in the context of DW Support & volunteering, but I am pretty certain that if I asked them to invest time in me on most any other topic I can think of they would.

They are fannish and crafty. They are analytical and incisive about living with illness even when it is kicking their arse. They remind me how to be graceful.

THIS IS A PERSON who once took me on a MIDNIGHT TOUR of my city - despite being a visitor to it, known to me at the time only as Californian Girl of Mystery - to give thanks for the gift to us of an hour, on the occasion of a clock changing. They are the reason I have been wrapped up on a cold autumn night watching the Chronophage [content note: GIANT METAL GRASSHOPPER] while the clocks change. forestofglory encourages me in whimsy and in reading; they are a source of a near-constant stream of beautiful postcards, which always cheer me up; and they are an astonishing scientist doing important work well, and then explaining it. They are a delight to me.
