A fortunate happening

I was at a gig tonight - an Indelicates gig, in fact, as most of the gigs I go to are - and I was gesticulating wildly to [personal profile] sebastienne, about something or other, specifically a line in a song from a couple of albums back that I consider... deeply unkind and unfortunate and short-sighted. (On the other hand, this is one line in one song.)

And someone sat behind me somewhat nervously said "er, sorry if this is creepy, but um I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU."

... and a beautiful friendship based on awkwardness and politics appears to have been born: I gave him cookies @cnlester baked for me because Boything; we flailed enthusiastically; I gave Indelicates backstory of the "I've been a fan of this band for longer that you've been ALIVE" variety (only a slight exaggeration); and -- yes. Wonderful beautiful talking-to-strangers, and we are making plans to go to gigs together in future, and -- here you go, [personal profile] emperor, a fortuitous happening on Friday, December the 13th.

And now we are finishing up in Beaconsfield services and I am going to continue on my accidental way to Oxford, the better to Velvet Goldmine.

I say that kind of thing to strangers whenever I can; can't think of a friendship that has resulted, but all kinds of lovely moments.

Do you happen to know of any indelicates gigs in early Jan? Their website only lists as far as the gig of which you speak here...

If you hear of one let me know! I'm staying with the manfriend, and wouldn't mind getting out of his hair for a night. Although he might be miffed if I went to concerts without him (but he doesn't like my taste in music much, so...)
