Part of the reason I am prodding the aftersensations literature with sticks is that it's an experience I also have in pleasant circumstances, but digging that out from The Focus On Pain is... tedious. Def some kind of sensory hypersensitivity link, though, and the "wow so a completely fucking different set of neurons is implicated in this phenomenon" is definitely relevant to my interests!
