Nov. 24th, 2024 10:21 pmReading. Decoding the Heavens (Jo Marchant): HA I KNEW IT SHE IS INDEED TALKING ABOUT A WHOLE BUNCH OF WOMEN WHO'VE WORKED ON THIS, PLAYING FREQUENTLY CRUCIAL ROLES. Little else to report.
Otherwise this week I have fallen down a slight special interest rabbit hole on the combined topics of "prehabilitation" and "why my watch has the opinions that it does", as discussed at length.
Watching. ... an. episode. of Farscape. (Maldis? 1.08, I think that puts us at.)
An episode of The Middleman! Happy comfort rewatch yes good.
Cooking. Baked ricotta and hazelnut cheesecakes (Ottolenghi, Sweet): SO good. SO delighted to have this recipe. Also a two-potato vindaloo, on which I think our opinion is broadly "deeply suspicious about the apple cider vinegar, and resentful about how necessary the sugar was".
Eating. I have been eyeing suspiciously the Cinnamon Croissant Cups that Waitrose has started doing. This week they were available, discounted for end-of-day, Several Times. A did not wish to try the first one; he did try the second; and today there were two left so we, uh, got both of them.
I remain deeply grateful that Wagamama do at present have on their menu Reliable Alex Food.
A custard apple! Which I liked some parts of much more than others (which is probably in turn in part because I let it get a bit overripe).
Growing. I have not dared to go to the allotment since The Snow, or indeed today's Yellow Warning For Wind. Sooo that's. Gonna be a tomorrow job. If I can convince myself out of the house, which is likely to be at least a bit dependent on whether it stops raining.
BUT: I have chitted ginger ready to stick into Growing Medium. I have a volunteer tomato (...) in the pot where I am establishing basil and also coaxing some rosemary cuttings along. All will not be dark and grim forever.
Observing.
