vital functions (in brief)
Celebrating. My 33rd birthday! And also Adam's 33rd birthday, and also also Adam's 36th birthday.
Reading. The Korean Vegan, Joanne Lee Molinaro: continuing to plod through this; going to have to blitz the second half; definitely tentatively interested, but also -- having been prompted by this one -- strongly tempted to acquire Young Jin Song's Korean Vegetarian (published 2011; second-hand paperbacks appear to go for silly money but the ebook is £2.99).
Watching. Two films: Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022) and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023).
Listening. Approximately half of P!nk's latest album Trustfall, in the car; A Proper Listen to follow.
Cooking. YOGHURT. I have got the hang of yoghurt, I think? I will see how the next next batch goes. I continue to laugh at myself for the Sheer Extent to which I am more likely to actually follow a recipe if it tells me why various things are done. (#overlyhonestmethods?)
A sort of Gröstl-y bubble-and-squeak thing.
Another batch of fennel ice cream: I made up the custard this evening and am leaving it in the fridge overnight to infuse.
Eating. Ruby Violet's afternoon tea (a birthday present).
A Whole Heckin' Pile of waffles (this weekend we wound up Comparing Waffle Recipes with friends: I did none of the cooking and lots of the eating.)
Exploring. Hobbledown Heath (owls plus decoy volcano). London Zoo. Whipsnade Zoo! Some Nottinghamshire countryside.
Growing. The squash I left in the warm box while we were away this week has hatched! Well. Most of them have, and the last two can stay in there and sit and think about what they've done...
