Reading. Demonology and the Tri-Phasic Model of Trauma: An Integrative Approach, Nnm. I loved this; I can see at least some of its flaws and I love it. I left liveblogged reactions chapter-by-chapter in comments.
Slow going with bits of Rising Strong (Brené Brown): she's really leaning hard on the "leaders" angle, and I'm finding it actively offputting. What with Thesis Writing I clearly wasn't going to finish it before it was due back, so I've placed another hold, but let's see, eh.
Watching. The Blue Planet: Amazon Abyss. This was another extra -- but an extra that did not involve David Attenborough -- and it is... Not Good. ( Racism. )
Things I actually liked about this episode: both needlefish and boto dolphins have Snappy Little Teeths. Doradids (talking catfish) make a NOISE; the documentary claims this is a Threat Display, i.e. Yell At Predators To Make Them Go Away, but wikipedia claims this is a behaviour that's only seen out of water, so who knows. Panaque that feed extensively on wood. Not a fish (!): baby giant otters are GREAT.
Listening. A played a bunch of Lemon Jelly on an impromptu trip down to Hastings.
Cooking. Turns out, to my delight, that the Le Creuset is in fact up to "cook a giant vat of food, let it cool very slightly, transport it half an hour in the car" & will still just... be warm enough to eat! So that's cheering. The context was dinner with extended-family who Needed Some Looking After; I made a batch of tagine with bonus fennel seeds (v happy with how the tagine is currently working, so hurrah for having made another few minor tweaks to the recipe), brownie with walnuts, and a pear-vanilla-cardamom-hazelnut crumble.
Several more loaves of sourdough; interestingly, I think I now actively prefer half-and-half with wholemeal to plain white. I've also decided to Just Commit To This Lifestyle Already i.e. I've ordered 50kg of flour off the internet, due to arrive sometime this week coming. I continue Getting The Hang Of This, by which I mean that the loaves are steadily increasing in volume for the same initial ingredient quantities.
Growing. The garlic did not do terribly well but I have now pulled it up. I am Very Pleased about the fennel seeds, all of which I have now harvested and at the least set drying (some are a little more processed even than that); they are super tasty and I'll sow some more. (The spinach had self-sowed but in a really inconvenient place, so, that's not being encouraged this year.)
I also harvested SUNFLOWER SEEDS (v small quantity, not really worth the faff except for the amusement) from one of the sunflowers that either the birds or the squirrels planted in the lemon pot.
Playing. A game of Scrabble with my mother on Saturday evening! Two of Bärenpark with A & B on Sunday, the second of which with ACHIEVEMENTS, which I won by dint of last-minute applying a Bonus Rule that we had not collectively agreed on in advance... leaving them two with 94 & me with 100, where without last minute rule-change it would have been me at 93. >_>
Poking. Hatched a 100%bloofSwablu! Caught some Exciting New Species as part of the Spoop event. Also finished the Jirachi special research. :)
